WEDDING TIP: Questions to ask your Photographer

Updated: Jan 16, 2020

There is no doubt that choosing your wedding photographer can be daunting. Even after narrowing down your selection to one or two photographers that fit your style and budget, it's still a difficult task to make the final cut. So how do you know which one is the right fit for you? I have rounded up a list of questions to ask your photographer to help you decide.

AVAILABILITY

Do you have my wedding date available?

How much advanced notice do you need for bookings?

Will you be my actual photographer?

Will you have any assistants / second shooters with you that day?

Are you photographing other events on the same day as mine?

BACKGROUND

How long have you been in business?

How many weddings have you shot?

How many were similar in size and style to mine?

Can we see your portfolio of recent weddings?

STYLE

How would you describe your shooting style?

Do you shoot digitally or with film?

If you shoot film, do you shoot in color or black and white?

PRICING

What packages do you have available and what exactly is included?

How many hours of coverage do we get?

What is your charge for overtime?

What is the deposit?

Does pricing include the cost of the second shooter / assistant?

PRINTS AND ALBUMS

How long after the wedding will we receive the images?

How will they be delivered?

How many images are included?

Are prints or albums included in the package?

OTHER

What is your cancellation and refund policy?

Do you carry backup equipment?

Can we request a list of specific shots?

What information do you need from me before the wedding day?

These questions are just a sampling of the most important questions to ask. We hope they will help to make it easier to find the right photographer for your special day!
